MixTurtle.com offers a very fast search engine for music.
If you’re a fan of Seeqpod or Songza (or if you work for a rights agency, an enemy of Seeqpod or Songza) then you’ll want to know about MixTurtle, a new entrant to the ‘marketplace’. This site goes for simplicity, with the only functionality right now being the ability to search and create a playlist. What is interesting, is the way each time you type in a letter it refines your search, allowing you to type in just the first few letters, then enter. And secondly, is the way it appears to select the best source for the track, meaning high quality streaming.
There does not appear to be any advertising or Retail links, which makes me think this is yet to be licensed. However, search engines such as this, when combined with applications like Songbird enable an extremely powerful search and acquisition tool which retailers need to figure out how to monetise.
And if you check out Jamiroquai, listen to the mash up of Too Young To Die with Dub Be Good To Me. It’s a new one but I’m not sure it works?
