The Importance Of Buzz On Album Sales

In 2008 a scientific paper was written that asked, “Does Chatter Matter?” It examined whether blog buzz and chatter was a significant indicator of actual sales. It concluded it was and the number of ‘Mentions’ that made a difference was 40 or more.
Does it work? Well, a quick scan through some artists highlights that Paolo Nutini, who tops the ‘Mentions’ chart, currently has the Number One album. We’ll keep an eye on the other artists to see whether chatter leads to sales.
