The latest artist to work with Million, are the incredible The Prodigy. Million provide a range of services starting with the creation of a ‘Digital Universe’.
The Digital Universe
Million are pioneering the creation of an artist’s digital universe. This places the official site at the centre of all online activity, but prominently linking to it are the social networks, widgets and fan sites. This acknowledges the increasing role that websites like MySpace, Facebook, iLike, Bebo etc play in the discovery and promotion of music.
Widgets, such as Gydget, allow fans to place artist information on their own websites. iLike allows them to dedicate tracks to their friends. Eventful allows them to ‘Demand’ an artist plays in their city. In each instance, we encourage fan engagement and interaction.
Selling music is core in our strategy but is hampered by a lack of licensed retailers, low consumer confidence and absence of reliable payment models. In our universe, sharing of music is encouraged and rewarded. Each track shared is another potential fan. Where this breaks down is when the sharing happens over unlicensed networks which results in no revenue for the artist. However, after receiving a free track our main task is to upsell the fan to either signing for the mailing list, featuring the artist on their social network, telling their friends about the artist, and through buying a live ticket, merchandise or trading on a licensed site we can begin to earn money back.
