LyricWiki: A New Lyric Website

Lyric websites, it has to be said, are incredibly popular due, we suspect, to the fact that people primarily use P2P to download their favourite tracks. Subsequently they want to know the words, so have to look them up on sites such as Lyricwiki.org. This site is based upon the ubiquitous Wikipedia, although the two sites do not appear to be officially affiliated.

This site accepts submissions from registered users & edits and links to Amazon, iTunes and Last.fm for sales.

There is some controversy relating to these sites since the lyrics, if reproduced without permission, are likely to be violating the copyright of the publishers who own them. Therefore, be cautious when uploading or linking.

However, given their popularity and that no legal action has forced any of them to stop or desist we think they could offer an untapped promotion avenue for popular tracks and well written songs.
