Watch Free TV On Your Computer

Everyone has heard of YouTube. Virtually everyone knows you can watch video on MySpace and Google. And most people have heard of Joost. But did you know these sites are the tip of the TV iceberg? Mashable have listed THIRTY THREE other sites offering TV on demand, and if you scroll down to the comments you’ll find a whole lot more.

The potential is mind boggling, but so is the question of how to know where your content is playing and how to monetise? Clearly the old linear model, with stations dictating when a programme is screened, are over. But issues like quality control, who gets paid, how to watch a programme on your new 37″ plasma and poor picture quality must be sorted out. There are huge opportunities for content owners, encoders, publicists and hardware makers. For artistes we suggest a) digitise all your video and b) tag them with your web address. After all, since so many sites are placing adverts on your videos, why not do this yourself?
