MiXAlbum Give Life To Remixes

mixalbumWith so many digital download stores selling identical product at identical prices it’s refreshing to see a UK based store adopt a new approach. MixAlbum specialise in dance, but specifically on remixes, providing fans with a way of buying tracks that up until now have been difficult to find on ‘traditional’ digital download stores. The ‘Mix Album’ part is because the store offers a playlist function that automatically beatmatches neighbouring tracks and creates a seamless mix.mix_example We ran a few demos and the mixes were almost undectable. All the tracks you buy (at 99p each) are stored in a locker, which you can remix at any time creating a constant interaction between the site and the customer.

The downside – which is no fault of MixAlbum – is that if only ONE track on your playlist is supplied by a Major then the entire download must be in DRM’d WMA format instead of MP3, which most DJ’s will employ.

The site is cleanly designed, very user friendly and the sort of thing that could actually convince us to pay 99p for a track.
