I gottta laugh each time I visit ‘fiddy’s MySpace page – it appears to be aiming for the record number of widgits and plug-ins on one page. First, you have to scroll down further than most people’s entire MySpace page just to get past the flash intro! Then seemingly every widget ever made is some where on the page. I enjoy visiting this page to check out what’s new since his team are on the case. This visit, I liked the look of the Mixercast widget, although I’m still trying to figure out what it does. The scrolling boxes in ‘Influences’ are also smart, since they allow him to link to his books and albums in a smaller space. Continue scrolling and you eventually get to the video section, where he features roughly half of YouTube’s entire catalogue. Followed by a competition section which appears to have the aim of ensuring every person on the planet has a chance of winning a 50 Cent goodie bag.
OK, so slightly cynical, but you know, after a couple of hours spent scrolling through it you have to hand it to him – it’s a fantastic fan site! The video is all back stage footage, the competitions are current, the basics are all there (links to stores, links to mailing lists, new release info) and it’s engaging. If you have the time, definitely worth checking it out.
People just stuff way to much into their layouts now days =/ I wish sites like MySpace, Facebook, etc, would really limit what a profile could have. This is just ridiculous.
Aw. shuddit. It’s Called freedom of speech. stop whining about how much people express themselves or I’ll exercise another of my constitutional rights, the right to bear arms.
Glad to know you liked the mixercast widget. Mixercast allows one to aggregate media content onto a single canvas metaphor and allows one to publish the resultant mashup onto the internet as a flash embed.
