Critical Metrics Add ‘Check Out’

crit_shotCritical Metrics is by far my favourite source for new music – I never fail to find at least one amazing track, and it’s usually many more. The reason is that in a world where millions of tracks compete for your attention, filters are a vital component in the discovery process. Playlists are just OK, since they rely on your finding someone who’s taste you trust. Radio Discovery is slightly better, but in my view tends to be too esoteric. Blogs are good but again, you need to find one you trust. Critical Metrics on the other hand feeds upon reviews from respected sources & music journalists and ranks them in order. The results are nearly always top quality, albeit, biased towards indie/rock. Now they’ve added a feature which allows you to add the Top 100 tracks in to a shopping cart and buy via one of their retailer partners. Interestingly, out of the 100, iTunes only had 78, meaning over 20% of all great music isn’t available to buy.
